Singer and actress Arci Muñoz welcomes the Independence Day with a post revealing her enlistment as a reservist for the Philippine Air Force. In her social media post, this Starstruck alumnus revealed that she is the first woman in her generation to enlist for PAF’s BCMT or Basic Citizen Military Training. She concludes the post by encouraging other women to enlist.
In the picture, the 31-year old actress is wearing the camouflage uniform together with a mask – a staple in this time of COVID-19.
Miss Muñoz, however, is not the first celebrity to join the ranks of reservists. Perhaps the most popular one is Matteo Guidicelli who is a reservist for the Philippine Army, with a rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
In preparation for a show, young actors Gerald Anderson, Nash Aguas, Yves Flores, and Elmo Magalona also underwent training with the military. During the 3-day military training course, the actors decided to enlist as reserves.
The rising number of celebrities joining the military is a good thing, if Army spokesman Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala is to be believed during an Interview with Inquirer in a post made in August last year. According to him, fans of these celebrities may follow suit and also be patriotic.
It’s not just the younger generation, however, as there are older actors who have been in the reserve far longer. There’s Christopher de Leon who is actually a reservist for the Philippine Navy and holds the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Richard Gomez who is now the Mayor of Ormoc holds the same rank in the Navy. As for his wife, Leyte Representative Lucy Torres Gomez, the model is enlisted as a marine reserve with the rank of Master Sergeant.
In the state the country is in, there’s every chance that more prominent names in the show business will be adding their names for Basic Military Training.
