RULES: FUTUR PROCHE (Near Future) in French

 1. Use the verb “aller” (to go) in the present tense:

  • je vais - I am going

  • tu vas - You are going

  • il/elle/on va - he/she/one is going

  • nous allons - we are going

  • ils/elles vont - they (m/f) are going

2. Add the infinitive of the main verb (unchanged form):

  • Examples of infinitives: manger (to eat), finir (to finish), parler (to talk), etc.

3. Structure:

Subject + aller + infinitive

  • Je vais manger. (I am going to eat.)

  • Nous allons finir. (We are going to finish.)

4. For negative sentences:

Put ne…pas around aller

  • Je ne vais pas manger.

  • Ils ne vont pas chanter.
