Do you have any plans to migrate to Canada? Do you wish to study abroad as a foreign student? In this article, we'll go over how to apply to be an international student in Canada.

So keep reading.

Two Methods for Obtaining a Study Permit in Canada

You can apply in one of two ways. The first option is to use an agency, and the second is to do it yourself (Do-It-Yourself).

Let's start with the first option, which is to go through an agency.

The first step is to make an appointment with an agency. It may provide a consultation so that you know exactly what requirements you need to secure in order to begin your application. However, make certain that the agency with which you are dealing is legitimate. The agency will undoubtedly assist you in selecting the best course for you, the best school for you, the best province for you, and so much more. However, if you decide to proceed, you will have to pay for the services that they will provide, which will include providing a checklist of required documents, processing your application, assisting you in creating your study plan, and much more.

Oh, and depending on the school to which you wish to apply, you may be required to take an IELTS exam. Some may only require a Certificate of English as a Medium of Instruction from the school where you graduated.

Once you've gathered all of the necessary documents, such as your transcript of records, diploma, birth certificate, marriage certificate, and so on, you're ready to send them to the agency's representative.

The agency will first send some documents to your preferred school so that you can receive your Letter of Acceptance. Once you have received the LOA from the school via your agency, you are now ready to begin the application process for your study permit, again via your chosen agency. It is also advantageous if you have already paid at least one term's tuition. As a result, your study permit application will have a better chance of being approved.

Another thing is to take an upfront medical exam before submitting your application. However, you could also take it once the IRCC requires you to do so. You will also need to schedule your biometrics appointment soon after submitting your application.

You will be notified of the results of your medical exam within a few days, whether you passed or failed. Then you're in the waiting game, and you have to wait for the results. The length of time it takes to review your eligibility will, of course, depend on the complexity of your situation and the documents you provide. Some people expect to receive the results in as little as a month, if not sooner.

Just a quick tip: apply months before the start of your schooling so that you have sufficient time to prepare for everything that you may need in Canada. Additionally, you will have enough time to reapply if your first application is denied by the IRCC. However, with the agency's assistance, you will at least have someone to consult with on how to improve your application.

You will have to do everything from scratch if you choose the second option, Do-It-Yourself. For example, you will prepare the study plan on your own, as well as collate and organize documents so that they appear organized for the visa officer's review. There are some Facebook groups you could join if you have any questions along the way, but no one knows if the members' advice will help or hurt your application.

Now, with regard to the proof of funds that you need, Canada.ca tells you need to show a minimum of 10,000 CAD. Go to this link if you wish to get the right documents for your study permit application.

As a student in Canada, you are also allowed to bring with you your spouse plus your children. But, of course, you are required to present that you are financially capable to bring them with you.

Bottom line, if you intend to move to Canada via the Study Permit route, it is preferable to seek the assistance of an agency rather than do it yourself, even if you must pay for it out of your own pocket. At the very least, you will have a better chance of receiving the IRCC's much-needed approval this way.

So, good luck on your journey to realize your Canadian dream!
