In this time of pandemic, everyone chips in what they can in order to speed up the new normal. Globe and TM throws in what they can by offering subscribers free data specifically for online learning.
Partnering with the government run TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority), subscribers for these networks can now access the TESDA Online Program (TOP) completely free of charge via the official site.
TESDA’s Online Program
TESDA’s Online Program is not a brand new concept. It’s actually been around even before COVID19. The project was launched to help more education-minded Filipinos to undergo vocational education and training in order to learn life skills that will eventually help them land a job in their chosen industry. Free courses accessible online include Computer Systems Servicing, Housekeeping, Food Processing, Bread and Pastry, and so much more!
Isidro Lapeña, TESDA’s Secretary is thankful for Globe’s decision to offer free data for their learners. Reiterating the institution’s “TESDA, About Lahat” mantra, he views this partnership as a milestone in helping further bridge the gap of access for learners.
Subscription? Not Necessary
This particular perk offered by Globe and TM is automatic. No need to send complicated keywords or activate a particular service beforehand. As long as you’re using a Globe/TM SIM when accessing the TOP site, zero data charges will apply. A little caveat though – free access covers only visits to the allocated TESDA site. The download of additional resources or the use of uploaded videos will still consume data.
This is not the first time Globe offered this perk, however. Just recently, the network also provided free access to the Department of Education pursuant to DepEd Commons, an online learning platform for homeschooled students. This alternative learning method will be the primary module used by students during this time of the pandemic.
Globe’s Chief Sustainability Officer Yoly Crisanto remarks on the need for such move, stating that “with the uncertainties that we are facing, we need to be prepared to take on new challenges…”
