A “Parking boy” who has gone viral on social media in 2017 for returning the money he found to its real owner, has now graduated as a scholar in a private school.
Back in 2017, a boy named Andrey Macabuhay became famous on social media after returning P7,000 worth of cash to its real owner, Dindo Lorenzo.
According to Lorenzo, around 1:00 am, he decided to stopped-by at a McDonald’s store to buy food for his family when he accidentally dropped his chunk of P1,000 bills worth P7,000. Fortunately, Macabuhay, who was trying to make some money working as an unofficial “parking boy” in the area, noticed the cash fell off Lorenzo’s pocket and decided to return it.
Surprised by Macabuhay’s honesty, Lorenzo insisted to buy him food but the boy refused. Lorenzo decided to give him money instead. Macabuhay happily accepted it and said he will give it to his mother because his father has been unable to work due to eye blurriness.
“Pinilit ko cyang omorder ng pgkain ayaw daw nya kc busog cya nung inabutan ko cya ng konting cash ngpasalamat cya ibibigay daw nya sa nanay nya… d na daw nakakapagtrabaho tatay nya kc malabo na daw ang mata… d daw nya naisip ng itakbo ang pera ko kc d naman daw kanya yun,” Lorenzo recalled.
After his story went viral on social media, Macabuhay and his family received help from people who have been touched by his act. In fact, Immaculate Conception Academy even offered him a full scholarship.
Roughly two years after Macabuhay’s act of genuine honesty, the school confirmed that he has now finished elementary. On top of that, Macabuhay’s education is already secured as the said a private school has vowed to grant him scholarships until college which will come with financial assistance, free books, uniform, and lunch.
