IELTS Speaking Part 2 Practice Question and Response

Question: Describe a time in your life when you failed. Who did you tell about your experience? What have you realized?

Sample Response:

I'm going to tell about a time when I felt the pain of failing, and it was in 2018 when I failed to earn a high band score in IELTS, specifically in two of the exam's subparts, the Listening and Reading sections. I was very eager to take the exam at the time since I wanted to quickly register my application for Canada's Express Entry pathway, which is why I immediately scheduled for an IELTS exam without going through rigorous review sessions, as others did. When I got the results, I was so disheartened with what I saw that I didn't immediately tell some of my friends and family members who were expecting so much from me because I was such a high achiever in college. But, after two or three days, I was able to tell them the truth. Well, that  experience taught me that not all failures are unpleasant, that everything has a reason, and that there is always a perfect moment for everything. I've also realized that it's acceptable not to be okay, and that in the worst-case situation, you always have the backing of your friends and family to fall back on. Furthermore, I have understood that it is the right decision to move on from any failures since staying in that specific low moment of your life would only lead to misery.
