Battling with sleep on a nightly basis? Insomnia is not something you should ignore – especially if it’s already affecting your quality of life. Here are some tips that should help you with this problem:

Make Your Bed Exclusive for Sleeping


Turn your bed into the most comfortable spot in your home by cleaning it on a routine basis, installing an excellent mattress, and using a bamboo comforter for an amazing feel. Once you’ve done this – make a commitment to using the bed only for sleeping. Don’t read on it, use your computer on it, or lie around doing nothing on it. This will create the association in your head that beds are for sleeping, making it easier for you to doze off.


Not Sleeping? Get off the Bed and Do Something Else


If you’re having a hard time sleeping, it’s best to simply get up and start doing something that will help you relax. You can try working out, reading something, or perhaps enjoying a nice glass of milk. A luxurious bath, a massage, or even meditation should also help as this allows you to relax.


Do the 1-2 Technique


Another great sleeping technique is by counting every time you breathe. For example, count 1 when you inhale and count 2 when you exhale. Focus on nothing but the movement of your chest and the numbers. This is a form of meditation that when done properly, can lure you into deep sleep.


Create a Routine for Bedtime


Have a specific time for going into bed so that you can gradually prepare yourself for sleep. It also helps to have a routine or a series of steps that helps you shed the tiredness of the day one by one so that you are more than mentally ready once your head hits the pillow.


Insomnia might have several causes such as too much stress, medication, or diet. If you suspect that your insomnia is caused by any of these, it would help to address the cause itself such as limiting your caffeine or switching medications.
